Global Change to Color
1. Color two objects CMYK turquoise, use the swatches and
name view
2. Now change the mix of the turquoise by clicking the name turquoise
3. Adjust the CMYK slides to Cyan 100 and Magenta to 20
4. The color changes to the new color by using the name view on the swatches.
This is a global change.

A simple text effect
1. Make a blue rectangle
2. Add text example: Vacation (helvetica approx. 90 pt)
3. Using layers (F7) target the text (How? Click on the circle to the
right of the layer name)
4. Now roughen about 5, 7 and smooth
5. Now make a free distort
6. To soften the writing play with Gaussian blur try 3-7 as numbers
7. Change the blue in the rectangle to a gradient and see if you like
that
8. This would really be cool if the word vacation were in the sky and
you had a land scene
Semi-water effect
1. Type the word WATER (about 110 pt Helvetica) and
you should have your layers palette open (F7)
2. Make it a fill of blue - target the type and change the color through
the appearance panel
(Click on the circle to the right in the layers palette open the appearance
panel)
3. Round the edges of the type about 4 pt
4. Draw four lines on this layer (over the word water) with strokes of
different colors of blues
5. Now give the lines a roughen effect - numbers 11, 12 and smooth
6. Then a Gaussian blur (about 2-4 pixels)
7. Look at your sublayers - layer one - and move WATER to the top
8. Close the sublayers so you only see the word layer 1 and select the
layer and make a clipping mask
Note: you may have to use the direct selection tool and move the word
to see the effect
9. you can make changes by playing with the colors in the appearance palette
10. Give some definition to the word WATER and target the type in layer
one
11. Go to the appearance palette and apply a stroke and drag the stroke
below the fill
